Thankful
1) I am thankful for friends. I may not have alot of them, but the ones I have are definitely keepers!
I spoke with my friend Shane today for nearly an hour. He is a writer and a poet. He is an observer by nature and has alot of "people insight". In a way we are similar creatures. We both are the type that can't let things go without being resolved. I don't know how many times we have made late night phone calls to clear the air because we can't sleep until everything is right in the world. We are also very different. Other than the fact that he has a penis and I don't, I am the type to jump into things both feet first with my eyes wide shut. I am a "feeler" instead of a thinker. He is the type who will hold back, think about things and take baby steps along the way. We discussed this at length and we think somewhere in the middle is best. (That is what I'm striving for anyway.) Shane is an excellent listener and had a lot of pearls of wisdom to pass along like: Crying is medically good for you, Gray. Believe it or not a significant amount of toxins leave though our tears, so get it all out, dear..." Guess what? I feel like I've gone through a 6 month rehab program with the amount of detoxification I've been doing. I'm thankful for Shane and all my friends especially Jerri, Sheryl & Shannon & Alb. They are all good beans.
2) I'm thankful for my children.
Kids (like animals) know when you are in pain ( mental, physical, emotional) I've received numerous snuggles and hugs over the past week. My 6 yo has been writing me "love notes" (He figures out the words he doesn't know all on his own) totally surprising me. My daughter has been worried about me, asking me if I'm ok and she can get me anything. The other night I was on the couch crying and she came up and started stroking my head. (She is getting to the age where she understands love and the pain that can come from it.) My 4 yo is very sensitive and has been crying alot lately too. It's as if he is channeling my feelings though him. He has kept close to me all this week. Over all, they have been wonderful and loving and understanding. ( The always are!) I'm lucky to have them. Lucky AND thankful.
3)I'm Thankful for my family
My father has always been there for me when I needed him. He loves me unconditionally and only offers advice when sought after. Other than my kids he is one of the most important people in my life.
4) I'm thankful for everything that O and I shared together. I AM thankful that he came into my life. I love.
5) I'm thankful that I'm alive.
"...The riot in my heart decides to keep me open and alive..."
~ line from Sarah McLachlan's song "Perfect Girl"
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
And to all a good night....
