Congratulations Thanatogenous long one of my favorite people here and now one of my fave SGs!

That wonderful news was the high point of the past few days. I havent been feeling all that well lately. The area where I live is loaded with mold, this property in particular. The respiratory distress and lack of visual acuity it has caused has really put a damper on things. I havent been able to read much more than the daily paper for a couple of weeks now and Ive been sleeping very poorly. The general state of the world is really getting to me too. Businesses closing and more people I know either out of work or under-employed every time I look around. Its very depressing. I'm worried about many friends.
The Hell Gate Bridge over New York's East River (from the RFK Bridge)
I unfortunately cant do anything about the economy but the best way to deal with allergies is to get away from them. I went to New York on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Id originally planed to visit some museums and exhibitions but the weather was glorious much too nice to be inside. I spent three wonderful days in Bryant and Madison Square Parks, on the walkways along the East and Hudson Rivers and walking some New York City Bridges.

The first on Monday was the Williamsburg Bridge.

It was the second suspension bridge built over the East River when it was opened back on December 19, 1903 and has a total length of 7308 feet (2,227.5 m). The main span is 1600 feet (487.7 m). It is a true multi use bridge two train tracks, 8 lanes of vehicular traffic and pedestrian and bicycle paths.
The Manhattan Bridge was next.

This was the final of the three lower East River bridges and was completed and opened on the last day of 1909. Its a little bit shorter 6,855 ft (2,089 m) and the span between the towers is 1,407 ft (488 m). It doesnt seem to be any less busy though four train tracks, eight lanes of traffic and dedicated lanes for pedestrians and bicycles. It was nearing rush hour when we walked back across and the auto and subway traffic was nearly continuous.
On Wednesday I set out to complete my walk on the newly renamed Robert F Kennedy Bridge. Its actually a complex of three bridges one goes to Manhattan, one to Queens and one to the Bronx. They all come together on an island in the center. I spend the entire day walking on two of the bridges and enjoying the beautiful paths on Randalls Island.

The bridge to Manhattan. I had already walked the Bronx bridge during a traffic snarl earlier this Spring

The suspension bridge to Queens from Randall's Island. Total length 2,780 ft (847.3 m) 1,380 ft (420.6 m) between the towers

I know that this whole bridge thing is probably starting to get a bit old for everyone other than me I promise to try to do some thing more interesting next week.
Best wishes.
Take care

Oh, I don't know about that. Here's a MCC member (Marylebone Cricket Club who own and run Lords) with a keen eye for the non-stop action................
