When i was in college i had three tapes i would listen to all night while i was in the painting studio one year: Boo Radleys "Everything's alright Forever" on one side, House of Love "Spy in the House of Love" on the other; Field Mice "For Keeps" on one side, Pale Saints "In Ribbons" on the other; Velocity Girl "Copacetic" on one side, Heavenly "Le Jardin de Heavenly" on the other. I work better at night, and my day was chock full of studios and labs, so i'd come home from class between 5-6 pm, sleep til 9-10 pm, go to studio, put on my headphones, work through all 3 tapes and work until 4am or so, walk home, shower, walk back to design studio and sleep there on the couch until class started and someone woke me up when class began (8 am). This worked fine until people stopped waking me up, i'd wake up on my own around 9:30 and the instructor would be mad at me for being "late."

My favorite Veolcity Girl song is actually off of "Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts". I do understand what you mean about tVelocity Girl's lack of progression. They just sort of got stuck, though I do enjoy popping in a tune from them from time to time and enjoying simple things.
