totally fired. now unemployed. damnit. it's my fault. but now what?
...
Edited to say - it's now 11/24, my birthday, and I guess that means I'm 22 years old. I've been unemployed for a good two days... which has meant I've watched more Vh1 than I can handle.
I now know Shakira's life story, that N'Sync made a really cheesy Christmas video once upon a time that I'm glad I've never seen, and that pretty girls date ugly rock stars. I've also had my fair share of E! viewing, where I've learned that the Barbi Twins grew up bulimic and that Saturday Night Live reruns are much funnier than new episodes, even when the jokes are bad.
OK, enough TV. Cable is great and all, but it's about time I get out into the world...
Luckily, today (besides being my birthday) as you know is also Thanksgiving - my mom is flying out here and we're going to my aunt's for a family Whole Foods catered celebration. Woohoo. Seriously, though, the escape from sitting on my ass and filling out countless job applications via e-mail is needed. Even if it is with my mother who will undoubtedly find a way to embaress me...
So... I've applied to a bunch of entry-level reporter jobs. Although I think ultimately I'd love to get into documentary production and film editing, I need to start working on my skills as a writer. I'm a fairly good writer, but having the opportunity to work for a daily or weekly paper will bump my writing skills up to par.
Alright - I have to get ready to meet my mother at the airport.
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes, btw. They really made me smile!
