On another note, I have a silly pet peeve I need to get off my chest (and please forgive this rant). This is much easier to explain in person but I'll try here:
Sometimes, as time goes on and people get lazy, things become accepted by the general population even though they are completely wrong!
Case in point...
... the saying that people always say and have been saying for over a hundred years, the saying that you hear in movies, music and even that tv commercial with what's his name that played George on Sienfeld. The saying that people say as "Well, you can't have your cake and eat it too."
YES YOU CAN! You can have your cake and eat it to... the actual saying, which was sometimes attributed to Maria Antoinette (along with "let them eat cake") is "You can't EAT your cake and have it too".
There is a very big and powerful difference between these two statements, and I just cringe anytime I hear it said wrong. Because the way people are saying it just isn't the point . Does this all make sense? Yes I can have my cake and [then] eat it too... but I can't eat my cake and have it too. That was the point of the original saying.
Does anyone care?
