In an effort to take my mind off of the general daily crap of life, I have been really getting into taking Polaroid pictures recently. I normally work in Medium Format and Digital, but Polaroid is such an immediate, almost magical experience. A great way to put a smile on my face when I'm alone and down.
Back in the 1980's, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran published a book of Polaroids that he had taken of Television screens. The images were very cool and abstract with all the wavy lines and stuff, and I remember attempting that back then but it never came out as cool as his stuff. It had always been at the back of my mind to try that again, so that is what I have been doing... but the world has changed and due to the advent of digital cable and dvds, the wavy, static analog lines of TV from decades past are no longer present... but still, I think some interesting images are still had from it. It's all about what you see and taking the picture at the right moment to get the color, shape and texture that you have in mind. Examples of what I am attempting can be seen in 'My Pics' number 16.
Again, I do this to distract myself from life...
