Hey all!
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I did! I just returned from Boston. We had a wonderful time there! I need to make some time when the weather gets better to visit there. Maybe even go to Fenway and see a Sox game. Shhh! I didn't say that out loud, did I? It was a lot of fun, and it is quite different from what I expected. In a good way.
Wednesday I am off to NYC to celebrate New Years and see the ball drop. Growing up in the Bronx, and living in New York State all of my life, I have never seen the ball drop in person. I always see it on tv. I hope it doesn't get too cold. Being in the midst of all those people should generate a little body heat, I think.
I posted some new pictures over the weekend while I was wasting some time. Go and check them out and let me know what you think. Hey, it's my last chance to whore for comments this year! lol
I have only 3 days left to think up some New Years resolutions. I think that I have already started working on a few. I will let you all know what they are next week. I don't want to jinx myself and say them before the new year starts.
Well, tomorrow it's back to work. I love long weekends, but hate it when they end. Next weekend isn't a long one for me, I have to work on Friday. Oh well, at least I had a long one this weekend.
Here come my last 2 poems of the year. Don't worry, I have more for next year too. I have been very motivated with my writing lately. Speaking of posting stuff, is anyone having the same issues as me with punctuation? What I mean is that when I add punctuation to anything I write, like a question mark, exclamation point, quotation marks, etc., what appears after I am done is a bunch of gobbledygook. Well, I hope that doesn't happen with this post, and I hope you like this weeks entries.

HUH???

We talk and listen, hear and comprehend,
But someone has a milk dud in her ear and misunderstands

How many times have you repeated yourself in the hopes your message would become clear?
Exactly what needs to be said so you will stop asking the same questions my dear???

If the same thing is said and the message misread, how long would it take for you to get mad?
Okay maybe not mad but really annoyed
and now theres another subject well have to avoid

Most never really care about your issues, they just want to be there for you,
but you made that kinda hard because you dont seem to like hearing the truth

Advertising to Children

Cartoons, kids movies-
You are a stupid parent...you are not there, you are an idiot
You are a nagger
You just can't connect with what is important

Marketing-
Sponge Bob mac and cheese
Flintstones vitamins
Dora the Explorer fruit snacks
Cartoons for food, get fat children
it is not for tv entertainment anymore
Just obey your thirst and your lack of self-regulation
sex is power
commercial food is need
fame is friendly
violence is cool

Children Commerce-
it is all about money and greed
making associations that
kids want
move the product, don't spare the kid
and we keep our thumb up our ass
buying it all
maybe the cartoons and kids movies that call us morons
have taught us parents to be
the morons
that go with the flow

Better late than never I suppose, to stand up and say
do not exploit my kids
they are my flesh and bone
and I will tell the dirty secrets
of those greedy bastards
Parents are overwhelmed already
just to make a living
and teach their children right
But fuck you, that billion dollar industry
who uses every tactic for my child's mind
to try to impose values on them that are not mine

I do have the power
one soul at a time
to fill their minds with their own worth
and choices
that have nothing to do with
money and spending to try to buy our joy
or attributes

Fuck you, that billion dollar industry
who will use every psychological tactic
to prey on the vulnerable
our children
and ourselves

Let me tell you something
Sex is powerful, not by a product but rather by a decision
to commit to so much more in humanity and the respect of life
that nothing can buy
Food, is a joy and a need
that is shared and reserved for our well being, not commercial gain
And parents are to be respected
as those who try to do their best to raise families
we have our faults, and to some if that moment of abuse starts they give up that right
to be parents...
but for the most part
Parents are good...ordinary human beings
who seek to give the best that they have to their children
who will not allow abuse either
from the marketing industry

You are not allowed to exploit my children
I do not give you that right
I will not pay you for that right
nothing of my hard earned money will benefit your greed
and if my children ask why
I will say,
'It is because your worth so much more
than money my child'
