It was extremely dark

Was the feet of others
Moving
Stepping in each others tracks
heads poised frontward
Mouth slightly agape
Were they following the one in front?
Was each beating their own drum?
As long as I stared I could not tell
I closed my eyes
I plugged my ears
The image faded and sound went away
Again I was alone
It was extremely dark
