It's been a few months since I last shared a poem, so I felt it was a good time to catch up. The most recent poem I wrote took me a long time to write. The longest time it ever took me to write, and I am not ready to share it here yet, for a few reasons. So yes, I'm still writing new ones. The one I'm going to share here today instead is close to 25 years old for me, written in my early 20's.
It is without a rhyming pattern, but full of what it means, to me, to be a hopeless romantic looking for love. How it feels when we meet someone we are attracted to for the first time.
I hope you like it.

Killing Some Time
----
Good Lord, I see heaven in your eyes
I feel electricity in your touch
Hear joy in your voice
Would you like to go someplace quiet
and get to know each other?
We can sit and talk,
Fall in love; begin dreams of our future
Find new meaning in old verses,
and new joy in old pains.
Re-discover life every day in each other’s embrace
Know love to it’s fullest
happiness to it’s greatest.
We can start with a coffee and a chat.
And End old and weathered
together to our graves
Create life in-between, and grow together.
Grow together so much we can’t live without each other
We meet again for the first time,
fall back into our place in destiny,
Fate can have us if this is what will happen
Together, forever.
If not, if I miss my mark
and this is not to be,
Can you think of any better way to kill some time?
