I had a weird dream last night.
I forget most of it but it involved being on a road near where I used to live with my mom.
I stopped in this bicycle rental type place. The idea was that for some reason I wanted to rent a bicycle during my lunch hour and ride around. I'd only need it for an hour. Even in the dream I was kind of questioning it, "I have to return it anyway to the same place I started so what point is there in renting it."
The people in the rental place are friendly and somehow it ends up that they're giving me a ride. It's two guys and girl and it's like they also work as ushers in an independent movie theater and they're really conversational and joking between themselves.
We end up driving around very bizzare and vivid scenery. It's parts of San Diego I hadn't seen before.
The part that's most vivid is an area that's kind of like a canyon. All the canyon and hillside is bright yellow, orange, gold and brown almost textured like dripping wax all over. It looks kind of like something in a very good comic book.
It ends up being a place in San Diego I had never seen before. There's something like a vantage point, and a sign that says something. I really wish I could remember what the sign said. Something like, "and that's how it is"
That road is where it starts is a somewhat common location in my dream as far as real life streets go. It was on the road to my grandparents when I was a kid. Then in high school it was the way I used to go to ride my bike to school (Morena Blvd. for those in SD.
Another area I dream about sometimes is the hill where my mom lives in that same area off Morena. I had a dream a way back where I started there and ended up on this immense freeway system with enormouse bridges and offramps going places where I didn't know.
It's weird how remembering one dream from last night will bring up memories of previous dreams. It'd be *really* screwed up if you got the dream memories mixed with the real ones.
I am though able to distinguish those two dreams where I'm at the beach and didn't bring the right clothes or something. Also the one where I'm walking back from high school and I'm barefoot trying to find my fins but there in my friends car but it's locked. Those could have been real memories but they weren't.
by the way... I had some greasy pork fried rice, lots of vitamins and gingko biloba beforehand.
I watched Hero that had some far out chinese legend cinematography in it that might have been an influence also.

So today in waking reality it was different. I was back on campus at the alma matter. It's wierd to see how it's changed and how it is to be back at the same place ten years later.
I heard this guy in passing, "Du-ude, we were watching this basketball game... every one was getting torched.. it was killer." Wow, that's a foreign yet familiar voice from the past.
That's not the norm at this school though.
It happens to be that the asian portion of the student body is significant, from what I saw at least 40%. There were frats with their tents out and four out of five were all asian. That would have been different to go to school with that. It was already a pretty engineer head school when I went but I hung out with the most atypical bunch there were.
Another thing.... everyone is using cell phones, at all times. That's not new of course but it is new for me to see a big class get out and every other person is on the phone.
So now let the job search begin.... I already had a week to decompress and the rez has been looked over enough and all the lint picked off it already.

That dream has some pretty potent imagery. I like how you thought the trip wasn't worth the effort initially, and you end up going and experiencing something entirely novel and beautiful. There's a lesson I could take to in there.
Thank you for reading my journal and writing such thoughtful comments on it this morning. They really really helped me.
Enjoy the job search adventure. *HUG*
