I watched this show called Paranormal State the other night on A&E and found several things wrong with it. This is just what I noticed.
*The name of the "demon" is likely Belial. The letters are flashed out of order in red during cut scenes. If you watch Medium Chip Coffey write down the name that "name" to him he clearly writes Belial with the pen strokes.
In Christian beliefs, Belial is commonly used as a synonym of Satan. This sense is derived from 2 Corinthians 6:15, where ..stripped-->Belial (or Beliar) as prince of darkness is contrasted with Christ, the light.
He is considered by some as chief among devils. In the Goetia, Belial is said to be very respectful. Belial is also the demon of lies and guilt. As a Prince of Hell, he commands 80 Legions of Demons and is specifically the Prince reigning over the Northern Reaches of Hell. He controls the element of earth and reigns over the Earth Elementals (earth demons.)
The Satanic Bible names Belial as one of the Four Crown Princes of Hell.
He is named in films such as The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Nosferatu and other films. Countless video games, music and books (Such as Paradise Lost by John Milton) use the name commonly.
For this Ryan to have caught the attention of Belial he must be a very important person (to be said with a voice dripping of sarcasm and venom).
*While we are on the subject of this demon, thier so called occult expert, when asked if she had encountered the name stated "Possibly". WTF? Any expert in the field of occult studies should have at least know the name.
*Ryan also stated he first encounted this demon when he was called in by the Arch-Diocese (forgive me if that is not spelled right...I am not catholic). Since when does the Catholic Church call in a twenty-something college student to investigate for them. Sounds like a rich fantasy life to me (Not to mention he states he is being targetted by this demon - a bit egotistical don't you think?). No wonder A and E labels it a Docu-drama. Emphasis on the drama.
*One thing I did notice is he does not even get confirmation from the "demonologist" Lorraine Warren. All she states is that there is anger in the house and in the teenage boy. She makes no mention of a demonic entity. This coming from someone who makes $$$$$ on claiming demonic activity.
*On the first episode involving the little boy, I noticed the psychologist and Ryan asking the boy leading questions throughout the interview. An example of this is when Ryan brings out the picture of the ?Wedding party? he asks the little boy "Can you point out you friend Timmy in this photo?" instead of the neutral "Do you recognize anyone in the photo?" (it also seems to me that he has his right index finger pointing right at the person). Any psychologist, counselor, etc., knows this is a big no-no. It is bad ethics.
*Going back to the drama part of Docu-drama, I went to the website and noticed they have listed a "hellmouth" investigation in one of thier upcoming cases. Are we channelling Buffy the Vampire Slayer much?
What a bunch of jackasses!!! I hate frauds especially someone who disguises themselves as a Paranormal Research Group out to help people. This is the very reason I left the local group I investigated with.
OK I'll get off my soapbox now.

at first I was a little nervous.
then I saw you were friends with Warren Ellis and thought to myself
"Hey, he's friends with Mr. Ellis, that's gotta be a good thing and that alone is a reason to accept!"
