Ow Ow Fuckity Ow Part Two

I got up Friday morning with a goose egg on the base of my skull which was really tender and sore. Since I had martial arts the night before and had the experience of someone trying to kick my thumb off (by the way, mr. white belt, work on aiming at the pad and actually hitting it before putting...

With all the current hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes, do you ever wonder if they are the anti-bodies for the earth and we are the virus?
corsair:
As it relates to the planet . . . . . I'm pretty sure we're the virus!

I have experienced a bit of frustration here of late. As some of you know I have had some good luck with weight loss in the last year. I originally lost 45 lbs (From 365 to 320lbs) From September of last year to February of this year. Most of this was due to balancing my diet and increasing my workouts at the dojo. In March...

And knowing is half the battle...

"There is a place in the parish of Errigal in Londonderry, called Slaghtaverty, but it ought to have been called Laghtaverty, the laght or sepulchral monument of the abhartach [avartagh] or dwarf (see p. 61, supra). This dwarf was a magician, and a dreadful tyrant, and after having perpetrated great cruelties on the people he was at last vanquished...

I just read an awesome tidbit of information in Esquire. In an advice column, the columnist made the statement that (I am paraphrasing here) any time a person gives more attention on a regular basis to someone other than their spouse or partner, it is considered an affair of sorts. It may not be a sexual affair or the like but it is still a...

Just got one of my wisdom teeth pulled today. The good is no more broken tooth. The bad news is we found out I am partially immune to novacaine. Each tug on the tooth was like an electric shock. Broke out in a sweat with that one.
Great pain killers though.
Fire bad. Tree pretty. Sleep now. skull

This week I got the oportunity to study Krav Maga (For those of you who do not know it is a form of martial arts created as a survival art from guns and knives and lethal attacks) from Moshe Katz this week and it was amazing. Below is a video of his teacher on Human Weapon.
Moshe is a wonderful teacher and a very personable...

oh, the advice about weight and such I'm taking. plus, one of the females that works at my store is a body builder. as she put it, she looks more at how your weight and build is like (say, "fluffy" or large) instead of an actual number. someone might be "heavy" by the numbers, but that is because they are more muscle and less fat.

just how I view things. as for me, well, I am the heaviest I have been in my entire life. however, I consider the fact that I can still get out there and push the carts. and walk over 35,000 steps in an 8 hour shift with only a 1/2 hour break that is required by law. or work pretty much 10 hours straight (or so) without a break really. I think that's a good sign. plus, while I might be 200 lbs., I really don't look it!

ahh, the shyness, it bites.

and Judaism is a very interesting religion. in many aspects.

ahh, Krav Maga. I figure that if I ever have a daughter, that might be what I take up. or Shotokhan. something where any guy she brings home I know I can whoop his ass. and make sure he knows it. yes, i am very protective.

figure I would start when she is born (or earlier, if I have an opportunity, for no other reason than to get into shape). and buy a gun too!

'csuse I'm protective that way!

Impressive stuff! Wouldn't it be great, to be proficient at that?

There is nothing more devastating than seeing a parent losing a child suddenly and at an early age.

One of the Sensais at my dojo lost her 12 year old son to complications from a viral infection. He was a cute and funny kid. Looking around at the visitation and funeral, you could just see the pain and heart stopping emotion of everyone from family,...

I watched this show called Paranormal State the other night on A&E and found several things wrong with it. This is just what I noticed.

*The name of the "demon" is likely Belial. The letters are flashed out of order in red during cut scenes. If you watch Medium Chip Coffey write down the name that "name" to him he clearly writes Belial with the...

thanks for the friend request.

at first I was a little nervous.

then I saw you were friends with Warren Ellis and thought to myself

"Hey, he's friends with Mr. Ellis, that's gotta be a good thing and that alone is a reason to accept!"
wiretripper:
Nice to meet you Dante. When it comes to the supernatural my views are usually more similar to that of James Randi or Penn & Teller. I try to keep an open mind though. In fact, I often find myself blaming god for many things. LOL Seriously, thanks for the friend invite. Catch ya later.

Bare with me, this is a bit tangiential and I am not sure I have a real point.

I never "got" poetry. I realize poetry is about emotion but I am not moved by 99% of poetry I read. I am always looking for the "story" in poetry like in epic peoms such as Milton's Paradise Lost, Dante' Divine Comedy, or Beowulf. That being said...

"I am a Martial Artist"

I am a martial artist.

I see through different eyes.

I see a bigger picture

when others see gray skies.

Though many can't conceive it,

I stand ... facing the wind.

My bravery, not from fighting,

but from my strength within.

I am a martial artist.

I'll walk the extra mile.

Not because I have too,

but because it's worth...
