LA based folks:

If I were to start having food preservation parties at my house, would you be interested in joining in? Meat days separate from veggie days so as to not offend the vegans. Smoking & curing? Pressure canning & water bath canning? Dehydrating? Picking & fermenting? Brewing & distilling?

Calling it a party and not a class, since I am just a beginner...

Yeah, I really want to learn from my difficulties NOW, so when life throws me more bullshit I have more tools to fix the problems as they arise.

Bummer, shooting plans postponed due to a non-watertight storage box of range gear outside, now full of stanky moldy watery goop

At least there's roller derby tonight!

I have a birthday coming up (44 on June 18), and I plan on doing two things that are open invitations on Saturday June 16: shooting at Angeles Shooting Range and then going to a roller derby bout, the LA Ri-ettes vs Rat City Rollergirls. Join me if you wanna!

Apart from the fact that I danced from age 9 until about 16, it's nice to see a competition show based on actual talent that you cannot fake. Also, pretty ladies in skimpy outfits.

I like the idea for your forum and have registered. Not sure how active I will be but I appreciate the intent. Thanks.

'm reviving an old topic that I brought up in the past but didn't proceed with at that time: Cow-pooling.

The idea is to go in together on a steer which would be butchered and packaged for us. I have a source I use locally now and wanted to open it up to anyone else interested. They have heritage breeds for their steer, hogs, lambs,...

I really want to! I just can't afford to drive out there with the amount of time I'm working and how little I'm making while doing it. :/ God damn it, being a grown up sucks.
little_bird:
Haha, I like that arrangement. (: Maybe I'll take you up on it sometime! It's been too long anyway!

it's just a simple host gig at anaheim HOB - it seemed like it was the only real entry level thing, but i think it'd really help the situation. (:

Yesterday, I had a couple wisdom teeth removed.

I was only in the chair for about 25 minutes. a couple shots of Novocain or lidocain or whatever, then a bit of drilling to break up the bottom tooth. the top one just came out with the forceps and a hard look. prescription for vicodin and 600mg ibuprofen plus antibiotics. had a mouth full of gauze...

No, my wife was the one who brought the car in, unfortunately.

That Generac is a bona fide deal if it works right and has low hours. They do tend to be noisy though - not important for a jobsite/emergency unit but not something you'd want to take camping and run overnight in a quiet or populated natonal park camping area, for instance.
