Last night: hookah bar + a fuckload of alcohol + Raj's mid-town roof + arguing about Homer and Virgil = the first time I have been out out in about two weeks (leaving the room for Chinese take-out and rental movies only to return home and laze about in bed does not constitute going out, I must remind myself). They were old high school friends,...

'Gummo' is an acquired taste, to say the least. You'll never see another film like it, that's for sure. I like it.

The sisters are trying to make their nipples look better in that scene, by the way; they reckon applying the tape and then whipping it off makes their nipples redder and puffier, thus encouraging the males of the species to come forth and mate, I suppose.

I don't watch all that many films - I'm fairly selective. Artiness-wise, I like Bergman, Lynch, Korine, and a shit-load of miscellaneous others. I like a lot of old black and white films, and old kids films; cheesy, corny films like The Wizard of Oz and The Railway Children. Robert Bresson's The Trial of Joan of Arc is a favourite of mine. Um.... does any of this mean anything to you? biggrin I don't know - give me a ball park for recommending and I'll recommend.

Had an awful dream last night about going to Max's for Christmas. There was crying and shoveling involved. I suppose I could just articulate my thoughts on the topic, but it's so much easier to insert a summing emoticon. Or several. I give you: Feu's dream about her (now, that is, recent) fiance's fucked-up family Christmas, interpretive-emoticon style!

p.s. I hate emoticons.

Jorie Graham's on your list...

Nice!
billyfivecrows:
Yes, she is gorgeous without a doubt, but physical beauty is pretty common. It's her poetic mind and process that does it for me. Her work is amazing!

And yeah, this breakup was the "right thing". We spent alot of time together and apart, alot of communicating and alot of silence, so arriving at the decision to live and love apart was mutual, but not without some lengthy consideration. It's "for the best" as they say.

Still, there's a bit of ouch that's settled in my chest. This, too, shall pass.

Thanks for the conversation! I appreciate it.

I'm way too ocd about packing shit. And I really have far too many articles of clothing with appliques. (You know you're crazy when you own a tank dress with a Hemingway mantra appliqued on...and probably doomed, too.) Thank God for small favors: the freedom to make your own home, wherever and with whomever you wish. And airplanes. Rilke was wrong, maybe?

Why do I continue to rent horror films with the highest hopes for their quality, only to be brutally disappointed? And also, why must I eat altogether too much ice cream while doing so? It just makes me crave more movies and popcorn instead of ice cream and very soon I shall be film-jaded and fat. Which is not an attractive combination, I would imagine....

I love watching horror flicks, but only when I assume they are going to be incredibly cheesy. My friends and I would meet up and rent the worst horror movies we could find, fun times indeed!

Sex is certainly a good way to get those creative juices flowing, so I'm sorry to hear you've not had any inspiration in a while. I hope you find your muse soon!

Arbus is such an amazing photographer, I really hope to do some work like hers in the near future.

Thanks for the recommendation on the "Metamorphoses," I'll have to check that out when I get my next paycheck. Robert Fitzgerald has an amazing translation of the Aenied, if you haven't read it, you should.

all the ladies dig that dude.

yea i like all movies, but i havent seen a movie in ages.

where are you at now and when are you coming back to nyc?

Finally quit the job. IN a fit of rage. Now I need to turn tricks to put the proverbial food on the proverbial table. Just kidding. Or am I?

I just watched the Victoria's Secret ad and yeah, it's wierd but for some reason I can't fault the guy for several reasons: the first being - this from a man who has constantly and openly asserted his desire for women, and second; there are news reports from the 60s asking him what would attract him to selling out- to which he replied, "ladies undergarments." Not saying it's great... maybe i've been hanging out in the ot-culture for too long.

"Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different." - T.S. Eliot in a 1922 essay on now-obscure playwright Philip Massinger.

By the way, I've been a hunter in the job market for a long time, so if you need some advice, feel free to ask.

My room is a bloody hothouse. And also, I need to clean, a situation about/for which I seem to have inordinate amounts of anger and anxiety.
24 more days? Called in sick today, so that's one less day I have to actually be working. Christ I hate that job.
Christ to the 2nd pwr I need a cigarette.
