This is not a good night. My country is bleeding and burning and crying for its dead. Please take the time to read this blog, especially if you're into illegal drugs, and above all else, please at least consider not doing them anymore.
Over 50 civilians dead. Innocent people, lots of them women and elderly folk, trapped in a fire caused in a casino by cartel henchmen (yes they do exist, no I'm not exaggerating) for no apparent reason than to instill terror in the population. Over 50 lives gone, mostly due to asphyxia.
Last week, a confrontation outside a stadium in the city of Torreon with high caliber guns interrupted a football game attended by several thousand people. AK-47. M16. That kind of stuff.
Months ago, another cartel executed dozens of immigrants that were making their way to the US and refused to join their ranks.
Two grenades exploded this month in my insignificant little city.
Teenagers turned into hitmen and mass murderers. The number of people who've died in this thing surpasses that of U.S. war casualties in Vietnam.
None of this is fiction. All of it is funded by drug money. Whenever you buy illegal drugs, you're funding this shit. It's no longer just our (fucking heroic) armed forces dying in our streets, fighting a war against an enemy with bottomless funds and unthinkable firepower. That alone is bad enough, but now it's every single one of us down here at risk, because we never know when or how the next attack will occur.
Basically, these are terrorists largely funded and more than amply supplied by foreign drug users and arms dealers, whose existence is allowed by our own corrupted authorities -mostly the local kind- and which are holding us all hostages. Whenever I read the SG Boards and the topic 'terror' comes up, I can't help but wonder how many people discussing the matter even know what that word means. I bet a good portion think of suicide bombers and religion. Wrong. Let me describe it for you*:
It's not knowing if your next trip to Wal-Mart will end up with you taking cover from the shooting in the parking lot. It's not being able to go out for drinks with your friends for fear of ending up naked with signs of torture in a sewer on the other side of town. It's not being able to blog, or post shit on twitter without the risk of someone putting a price on your ass. It's being chased down the freeway and making it because your car runs faster than their truck. It's not posting pictures on Facebook of your new house or shiny import car bought with years of saving money and busting your ass because you don't want to draw attention from the wrong people. It's getting phone calls from people threatening to kidnap one of your family members if you don't give them money and not knowing if they're real or not.
If you're a religious person, pray, if you're not, at least wish us well... If you're into illegal drugs, please stop and help put an end to this madness.

The whole situation is wildly frustrating - there's basically not a single thing I can do about it, all I can do is stop doing drugs, which I did a long time ago anyway. I'll be hoping and wishing for things to get better.
