2. train wreck. i think you'd have enough time to see the cars in front of you derail, or at least hear them before you actually die. get that couple seconds of euphoria before death. or it could be dread, i guess.
3. billion dollars. i think i would get tired of life eventually. what if you try to kill yourself but you don't die? oh wouldn't know what to do.

hope your holidays pick up with less boredom. whenever i'm bored on someone else's computer i usually go to popcap.com and waste time with a couple of their games.

Shop steward is an unpayed union position that just entails helping my coworkers with their problems. You would think that they would be happy to have one after a number of years without one but... some of my coworkers are angry and resentful for some reason....

some interesting stuff going on. a nano-scientist (phd in chemistry, working in physics), a sociologist, a medical lawyer, and my prof were the speakers. they were all really interesting. the scientist talked about how nano-hype is making people too scared. the sociologist said they have a right to be scared. the medical lawyer talked about a hand-held pcr dna test that is going to be commercially available in the next 2 years, and my prof talked about public consultations in developing nanotech policy.
after all that was done, we had a smaller session to discuss the possibility of developing a national center in conjunction with the national institute for nanotechnology to look at the policy issues coming up around nano.
