its always a good idea to know and feel comfortable in your surroundings. dont let fear (especially someone elses) keep you from doing what you want to do - but be smart about it. "some really bad things" can happen just about anywhere. maybe jogging in that perticular park might not be a good idea for someone who isnt "pretty good at taking care of themself". but intentionally putting yourself in harms way just cuz your stubborn, would be pretty stupid.
