Yes, the title of this update says it all. it has been one CRAZY week. Unlike usual, I was married to my camera for the past week basically. The only tie I didn't have it with me was when I was in the shower and in bed...but really any other time I had it. I was working on my MFA portfolio review. In total about 785 photos were took between Tuesday and Friday. That does not include yesterday when I photographed Baker's Senior day Football Game, Women's Soccer Game, and Men's Soccer Game. Yes, I was at Liston Stadium, where all three games took place, for about ten hour yesterday. I am actually kind of happy not to have my camera around my neck today, but it feels so freaking weird to only have my backpack (for school) instead of my camera bag and camera...
ANYWAY, I am now going through and trying to figure out which 10-15 images I should put into the portfolio for the review. The hardest thing about this process is that I have about 80 photos that I have edited as my "best" out of everything I took, and now I am having to pick from those to find the best of the best I guess you can say, which is where I am having the issues. The "best photos" are good, but the ones I have already picked out for submission are, at least in my mind, REALLY good, and the other's don't exactly match up correctly with them. Idk...here are the ones that I have selected so far.
(FYI, they do focus around one person, Dr. Frank Perez, Director of Bands at Baker University, my undergraduate alma mater, basically shadowing him around and documenting his life. My project is about Mexican Americans [like myself] who grew up here in the States, which breaks the racists stereotype that was presented by Donald Trump, but seem to echo around the United States by a lot of people it seems. This project is to show him as a hard working, family man who is devoted to both his family, his job as a trombonist, teacher to his students, and community)
So there are the four so far, and I am still trying to figure out at least six more photos...this is harder than I thought...
OH, in other news, Frank did take a photo of me the other day, on Thursday, when we were on a tour of a trombone factory in Kansas City, Missouri (which is where the last photo I posted of him is from) which I personally love and want to share with you.
Yep...that is me...from Thursday. I guess the self portrait that I posted a little while back didn't do exact justice huh?
Anyway, tell me what you think of the top four photos...feed back would be very helpful.
