i hate it when people who treat other people like shit complain because those people treat them like shit in return.
example one: racist girl at my boyfriend's work says mexicans are bad tippers. said girl is probably treating mexican customers differently/poorly and thus receiving bad tips from them.
example two: boy complains that all girls are bitches because he's had bad dating experiences. stereotype is reinforced because he's being a selfish asshole, and so girls are being bitchy to him. he builds on his negative attitude and never stops to examine the root cause. (could ALL girls really be bitches? maybe there's something more to it.)*
it's so frustrating to see people getting into the same problems over and over, getting frustrated with the world, when the problem is their own fucking attitude.
i used to do this. i assumed people would be assholes to me, so i wasn't friendly to them and i closed myself off. and wonder of wonders, they WEREN'T friendly!
it was around this time that i took lots of LSD and began having honest, (sometimes drug-induced) conversations with people that i would not have previously had. i opened myself up, and i started being friendly to lots of people, on the off chance that they might have something cool to say. of course, this attitude changed the way people interacted with me as well.
in other news... i got the job i applied for at the video store! i jumped up and down squealing for like 5 minutes. i've wanted to work there for soooo long. i think this also counts as getting a job in my degree. i work my first night tonight.
don't forget to come to females and fleshhooks at the Inferno on saturday!
