I'm back from NYC! Man, was it fun... My friends and I tried to balance out the touristy things with more underground, NY scene types of things. Nothing too terribly exciting happened, but it was pure fun from beginning to end. Here's a quick synopsis of our week:
Monday: arrive at the Roger Williams Hotel in Manhattan. We walk around. then go out to eat, but are so tired we retire early.
Tuesday: Go to Greenwich Village and then East Village to shop and hang out. At night we go to Times Square. to take in all the sights.
Wed: Go to Statue of Liberty. In the evening we go to times Square to watch Spiderman 2 (where Spiderman lives!), and then go to a bar called the 205 Bar in East Village. It closed early because there were only a handful of people there, but not before the super cute bartender recommends some more cool clubs.
Thurs: Go to Metropolitan Museum of Art, then Central Park, then eat at Carnegie Deli. At night we go to a couple random rock bars (none of them ahd names, only addresses) and a small 80s club called Transmission.
Friday: Go to Empire State Building (really just a perpetual line of people). Possibly the highlight of teh week was when we attended Girl Crush 2040, a live-action anime comedy put on by the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Funny as hell - if you live in NY and have seen five minutes of Sailor Moon (quite literally the extent of my anime experience), you'll love it. Then we go to an 80s/electro/rock club called Trash and end up in a hole-in-the-wall bar with slot machines and a cigarette smoke-filled lounge downstairs.
Saturday: After waking up really late we go to Brooklyn to check it out. I stay while my friends pack for the flight back (they had to leave at 6 AM). I see the Blood Brothers at Northsix (who brought up Nick Zimmer from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to lpay on a song with them. They played a whole slew of new stuff, and it was one fucking awesome show. Afterward, I hung out in the uber-hip (to the point of pretention...) Williamsburg area, then went back to Manhattan for an indie rock club called Crashin' In.
Sunday: Went back to Brookly for the Artist and Fleas flea market in Williamsburg. I found a treasure of $1.00 LPS, including the rare-as-hell Arrow LP from Television (not in good condition, but playable!) Then I headed back home, tired but with the feeling that I had done everything I possible could have.

The Television find is amazing, especially in the such an area. Those bastards usually snatch up an any original pressings they can find...they are like a disease...a hipster locust!!!
...that reminds me, were there any Sacata attacks whilst you were there. The way they talked about it on television it was as if you would just see someone be eaten alive on a city street. But then again the TV has been known to tell lies every once and a while
