I've been pretty busy these past few days. On Tuesday night, I saw Tiger Army and The Business play downtown. It was about the 7th or 8th time I've seen Tiger Army, and it was definietly one of their better shows, although they didn't play In the Orchard or Moonlight Dreams, two of my favorite songs. Meh, oh well.
Wednesday found me and a friend from the radio station setting up a booth in the Free Speech area on campus and playing female-fronted music (lots of Le Tigre, Chicks on Speed, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ani diFranco, Bikini Kill, etc) in support of the Women's Center's annual "Break the Silence" rally to raise awareness of rape/abuse/hate crimes/etc in the U.S. At one point we cut the music and everyone fell down on the ground for 15 minutes to draw throngs of curious onlookers and even some camera crews. I actually fell asleep for a few minutes, I was so tired. I hope I didn't snore when cameras panned to me...
And last night I drove to Sacrament with a friend to see Moving Units and (International) Noise Conspiracy. Moving Units rccked more than I thought they would, and t(I)NC rocked fucking hard, doing jumps and kicks and basically acting like a concert photographer's dream.
This weekend will find me attending a couple more shows (a local show to promote the radio station, and The Swords Project, a post-rock band from Portland)...
It's nice to have so many whows to go to; this is what I imagine SF might be like every week if/when I move there!

y.v.
International Noise Conspiracy...you lucky bastard. I feel like an idiot because I never even pay attention to what is going on in Sacramento even though it is the closest place to see a show oh well.
And thanks for the Chico hate backup. Yeah, I get to spend two full weekends in May cleaning up the streets in that fair town of yours. If you see a group picking up trash on the 2nd and/or 3rd weekend come stop by and say hello
