eventide

o this thing called art-
the answer to all the riddles
dancing in the periphery of my vision
just as it did, what, 20 years ago, when i started this quest.
it has the same allure, and promise. the same mystery.
mystery, yes, because to be honest, it is still not there
quite

i know that it is not the same as feelings
even these ones that seem impossibly strong,
and echo in the head
as if youve just woken up from a dream.

ok. i know it has more to do with training,
and discipline,
and going to the studio, even tired, like now,

and pushing on through these motions; the next and the next.
and then choreographing, hammering it out. looks, turns
not the same ones as before. words, ideas of sequence and media.
and, finally, the others. the collaborators. the dancers and musicians
mostly. but the designers too. i know.

but to connect _that_,
all that industry,
to the ... etherial thing,
there, exactly jis it most tenuous.


so just before bed today, i had a thought.
the man who spoke of 50 years to accomplish something
the one who asked our ages

this supply of something, and the need spend it on something

well, im not sure, but i sure do have the sense it can work... maybe ask alan good.
