ok. I'm trying to figure out if I should pay for
dsl or cable so that I don't have to rely on work to have an internet connection. I don't have a land line so a dial up would be unnecessary..

I have cable, but I'm moving to DSL. They're both equal in my book.

look at the cost factor. if you get dsl then you have to get a phone line. two payments. if you get cable then it is one payment. I believe cable is $50 a month. dsl is about $40 plus a phone $35. a friend of my is in the same boat and he got cable.
