i tried to write this myself, but obviously i am no match for the astonishing wit of the poles. thus i present my husband's translation of his polish cousin's universally applicable sense of humor.
"tales from the polish countryside. volume 1.
piotr knocks on the door of his friend eugeniusz. his lovely wife answers the door. eugeniusz isn't home. piotr, never being one to pass up an opportunity, asks lidka if she wants to fuck. she says no. he offers her 100 euros. she grudingly accepts. after he comes he asks if she wants to go again. lidka refuses politely and piotr offers another hundred euros. again she accepts. after he is spent he asks if he can go yet again. lidka tells piotr that eugeniusz will be home from work soon. he says he won't be too long. she is not impressed but since she wants the cash, she accepts. he finishes the job, pulls on his pants and goes out the door. eugeniusz returns from work and comes into the house. he asks if that was piotr that he just saw leaving. likda nervously says that it was. eugeniusz gets an excited look on his face and says 'great, so he gave back my 300 euros!'"

i just idealize the working artist couple idea, not even famous...but, you know, sometimes it's too much--too intense.
