So a homeless guy tried to start some shit with my two roommates, Steve and myself on a trip to the DD (Dunkin' Donuts for anyone who's not a coffee junkie like me).
Scott and Christina (the roomies) and Chester (Scott's friend) came back from watching our neighbors perform a dance at a show and they had some DD coupons they wanted to use. The five of us (after ingesting some alcohol) went on a merry little walk down to the closest 24 hour DD. We were all standing in line, except for Chester who sat next to the window. All of the sudden there was a voice behind us that spoke very loudly, "You guys are the biggest bunch of douche bags I've ever seen."
At first I ignored him while Scott inquired as to why this man would consider us, a group of total strangers, douche bags. Then curiosity got the best of me and I turned to face a disheveled homeless guy, probably in his mid 30's, with some sort of dirt or paint on his jacket and scruffy blond hair.
I don't remember everything about what happened, because for a large portion of the confrontation I was trying to make sense out of what was going on. He said, "what's up with your getups?" And he turned to Steve and said, "And you, what's up with your getup?" Steve looked down at what he was wearing and said, "Uhh, clothes?" Then he looked at me and said, "And YOU, that....that thing" he motioned towards the side of his lip to let me know he was talking about my lip ring even though he's primitive brain could not come up with the proper term for it, "that's real nice." And by real nice he meant not nice at all.
Eventually I could feel anger stirring within me and said, "You obviously have no life, who comes into a Dunkin' Donuts just to mess with people? That's very mature." And he retorted with, "Oh, I have a life!"...and then said nothing else. Nice come back, buddy.
Everything ended as well as it could, I suppose, Scott had some choice words with him and got in his face a little and the guy finally left to go screw with a couple of people who were sitting outside of DD talking amongst themselves. I can only imagine how sad this man's existence must be that he needs to start fights with people just to get their attention.
Oh, and he did tell us why we were douche bags...want to know why? According to him it's because, "I came in here to get a coffee and a donut!"...and we happened to be in line in front of him which means he had to wait. Not that it matters because I don't think he could afford coffee and a donut in the first place. Le sigh.
