So a nice young man wanted to know about my favorite Velvet Underground and Charles Mingus albums.
Here we go:
I enjoy White Light/ White Heat by the Velvet Underground more than their other work. It's gritty, ugly and dirty but still put together in a lovely way. It's very powerful and kind of animalistic in a way. It sounds like early punk.
Charles Mingus was an amazing artist and I love everything I've heard of his, and all for different reasons. Each piece is a beautiful child. Mingus Ah Um, recorded in 1959, is my favorite album of his. Particularly for "Fables of Faubus". But the song "Goodbye pork pie hat" is also amazing.

terminaldisease:
Thats a great Mingus album. My favorite is Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus from 1960. It has Fables of Faubus with the original lyrics on it.
