so i came home from work tonight and there it was, "it's a wonderful life". it was in b&w, so i kept it on and well, alright, i watched it all. but i think i like parts of that movie that no one talks about. i think it's sad for reasons no one ever talks about.
george was supposed to leave bedford falls, remember? his whole life is about leaving town. then on his honeymoon, money in hand, he's driving out of town with his new bride and there's a run on the bank.
"george, let's not stop let's go" mary's words as george hops out of the car and runs into the bank. needless to say, he uses all his cash to keep the bank from going under. they never go on a honeymoon, he never leaves town, and yet all anyone talks about is how lucky he is.
crap.
btw, one of the sexiest scenes in any movie is the scene where george and mary are sharing the phone. so close, cheek to cheek, after always fighting, they are suddenly touching and everything comes apart. he says he doesn't want anything to do with marriage he just wants to do something for himself.
thru all that, he is actually proposing to mary. it's a great scene. one of my favorites, ever. the idea that as everything is falling apart it's actually all coming together. love it. lived it. it's the best feeling ever.

I need to watch that movie again. It's been years.
If you see me on IM, message me. I need a proper update on what's going on.
