I started my vacation today. Woooohoooo!. I have been telling everyone at work for the past week not to bother trying to call me about anything; I will not answer the phone. Period. So I got out at 4, did a quick stop by the store and headed home. Five minutes before I got home, my phone rang and guess who it was? Yup, I just hit 'ignore'. about 30 seconds after I got a voicemail notiification. I hit 'dismiss'. I got home, called my voicemail and deleted it without listening to it. One of my part timers was behind this. I swear I love this girl to death but good god, she can't do anything without having her hand held. There are two managers closing and the former copy shop manager is working tonight so she can figure out whatever it was on her own for once. I was set to go camping next week but my camping partner bailed out. A good reason of course but heres the part that pisses me off. We both still have next week off (and she isn't going to be occupied the entire week) so I suggested hanging out and of course she said nothing. She didnt say no or I cant, she just never replied. This has happened more than once; ok, its happened constantly with her. Every time I try to nail down a time, well one that isn't a month away, to get together she stonewalls me. I am now done dealing with this bullshit. It's time to move on to somone who wont waste my time. And now to the non-bitchy part of the blog...
I have decided to rejoin the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) and have begun designing some period clothing. I must be a bit of a masochist because my area of interest is Elizabethan England, and of course this time period is one of the most expensive clothing-wise. It shouldn't be too bad, I do sew and I have done some period pieces before, just not a whole suit. But that's ok, I have a copy of Janet Arnold's 'Patterns of Fashion 1560-1620' and I've ordered another book, 'Tudor Tailor' which goes into detail of the clothing's construction. I probably won't get it until the middle of next week so I'll have to be content in working on a smaller project; the ruff. I think I have figured out enough to make one, but we'll see. I'll be getting some cheap supplies this weekend to see if I can figure out the construction.
And now I leave you with this. JAPANESE SPIDERMAN! It was this week's Japanese Moment on my website Make Me Famous in Japan
