My office Christmas party turned out to be suprisingly good. I couldn't go to the lunch, so the one girl I can actually talk undiplomatically with and I went after work. Predictably, those who'd been out since 1pm were pissed so I decided to try and catch up. Also predictably, I caught up but then was langered so didn't slow down and sped right by them. Highlights of the night include:
Accidentally picking up some girl because I couldn't say that Irish people don't like Asian people (tip for girls - if you want to get with a guy without fear of rejection, play the race card! After one drink with her I just blanked her though, so know your limits)
Explaining to my departmental secretary about my open relationship with la_zorra
Walking home from Picadilly Circus after calling a prospective taxi driver a rapist. There was a valid and logical reason for this however
Lowlights include:
Being an asshole to la_zorra when I got home. In penitance I'm being super nice to her all weekend, which is just good anyway
I find the fact that Dennis Donaldson turned out to be a spook amazing. I doubt Blair actually new what was going on but I'm sure that if it turned out that an American spy brought down a democratically elected parliament by implicating a political party in spying then English people would take to the streets in protest. The security services have been excellent at making Northern Ireland seem like an intractable "Irish problem" in the eyes of the British rather than something in which Britain is an active player.
My PSP home theatre thingy arrived yesterday. 1,000 geek points to me. For bonus geek points we watched Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story last night.
