In Theatre History class, we learned that the first line of Ubu Roi ("Merdre!") is always translated as "Shrit!" but the literal meaning is closer to "Shittish!"
Here are some of my favorite bands:
-Red Elvises
-Flogging Molly
-They Might Be Giants
-mc chris
-Tenacious D
Know what they all have in common? IF YOU WENT TO SEE THEM PLAY WITH A BUCH OF OTHER BANDS, THEY WOULDN'T SOUND EXACTLY FUCKING THE FUCKING SAME AS EVERY OTHER FUCKING BAND IN EXISTENCE!
To that effect, I saw a dreadful assortment of bands yesterday. They were all playing the most generic garage band pseudo-punk music ever, and each one sounded exactly the same as the others. In addition, there was no oxygen in the dank basement they were playing in, only cigarette smoke. And 'basement' is not some description of a bar or club, it was literally some guys basement. And I had to lie about one band, as it contained personal friends, one of whom has gotten all odd, so being around her is weird, anyway.
It was a terrible day.
But today, I got to see two of my best friends, who are staggeringly beautiful ladies on whom I am constantly crushing, and also saw a friend of mine with whom I occasionally hooked up in and after high school, but hadn't seen in a few months. Aaaaand I saw a really well-done Neil Simon play.
It was a good day.

I've said it before, adn I'll say it again:
modern music in general has no soul.
It has ceased to become an art form and is now a product to be bought, sold and distributed.
And this makes me sad.
*sigh*
Tell him he had better be back soon, I miss his journals and photoshop skilz.
