holy fucking crap!
today is a crazy, strange, and wonderful day:
1) my items from Austin arrived at eight this morning - i am now one mixing console and one gorgeous 1/2" 8-track tape machine, and a whole bundle of cables richer!
2) while i was grabbing a bit to eat from the little cafe around the corner from my house, the owner/manager sat down with me (i go there a lot) and asked me if i'd like to work there. (as i hate my current job #1, this was a very welcome turn of events.)
3) i applied for a 33 GBP refund on an old money order that i'd almost forgotten about. that's something like $60 american! whoo-hoo!
4) finding the above reciept reminded me that someone else owes me $250 - so i called to collect. he'll be bringing it by early next week.
5) i layed the bike down last night (a wet-pavement dodge of yet another unobservant driver) - no real damage aside from some barely-tweaked handlebars - so i drove all the way to hell and back in sporadic, driving rain getting it fixed today. i learned a little more about how motorcycles work, and was humbled by the gracious staff at both cycle shops i went to: shop #2 tuned up and fixed my bike for free, just for buying an $8 part at store #1 and delivering it to them. viva la barter system!!
6) job #2 called me at 4pm to tell me that since every cook/chef there has come down with the flu, they were closing the restaurant for the evening, so i don't have to go to work tonight. (a red flag for maybe running a cleaner, more organized, and more germ-free establishment? i think so... all of you who know what my job #2 is might wanna stay away from that place for a while.)
7) as soon as i got off the phone with boss #2, the buzzer rang from the downstairs front gate - it was the postwoman, with two big packages for me from my family!

all that since 8am this morning! that's more than what usualy happens to me in a week, and way more than enough to keep me smiling for several weeks to come.
still left to do today:
- laundry
- tidy up house
- set up/drool over new audio gear
...and then i'm off to the SGSF x-mas party.
*whew*
