My life is GREAT!!
1) If all goes according to plan, I'll be spending the rest of the year working freelance as a professional personal assistant. I'll be working for friends, which is wonderful. It should only take up 3-4 days every week, which leaves me enough time to write and record. There's even a possibility that I'll be flying to Albuquerque once every month or so. All this because I seem to have a knack for streamlining people's lives. Ten years ago, if anyone had told me that I had a gift for problem solving, organizing, and personal/professional financial management, I'd've laughed my ass off. Life is full of interesting developments.
2) I just might have found a new home for my recording studio, and by that I mean a home that isn't my living room. I'll be working most of tomorrow to clear out the space & get it ready. It's cheaper than I ever thought I'd find ($150/month!?!), but the best part of it all is that IT'S DOWNSTAIRS!!
3) Just when I didn't think that things could get any cooler, my landlord just drops by with an Otari MX-50 1/4" 2-track tape machine. Turns out he bought it on eBay and decided that he prefers TEAC's, and knowing that I already have an MX-5050 III 1/2" 8-track for my main deck, he thought that maybe I'd be interested in using this new deck for mixdowns. Can you believe that? Who the hell has a landlord who would do that?? If anyone cares, I'll post a pic of it in the morning.
4) Juliana & I leave Wednesday for a two week vacation... of sorts. First stop: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where we will witness the re-wedding of my friends James & Kiri (they're already married - they eloped - but James's mom wasn't having that so now it's ceremony payback time). Then we're off to good ol' O.P. Kansas, where my younger sister Theresa gets married on the 14th. We leave from there on the 19th & head straight to San Diego for Comic-Con, and THEN we make it back home on the 22nd just in time to see the Flaming Lips @ the Greek Theatre in Berkeley!!
5) Last, but definitely not least, after months & months of deliberation, J & I finally bought a new mattress!!! A comfy mattress. A welcoming mattress. A nice, new, never-been-slept-on-by-anyone-else type of mattress. It's firm but still soft, big enough wfor the two of us plus a couple of cats at least, it doesn't weigh a million pounds or sag in the middle like our old mattress, and best of all it has a name that sounds an awful lot like David Hasselhoff.
Who could ask for anything more?

Carrie and Jared just came up to borrow some whiskey. We had no scotch (to my knowledge) and she has a gnat problem. Of course.
