Since I skipped a few days how about 2 today. This one not so long is on breastfeeding.
Anyone here about the feed ins that occured at some major airports across the country? Well it seems a female passengar was kicked off a Delta airlines connector flight in Vermont for refusing to cover her and her baby as she breasfed. She was next to the window, her husband shielded her from the aisle, and no part of her bare breast was exposed. They had been delayed for 3 hours in a Vermont airport and the baby was hungry. Plus breastfeeding has been reported to help with altitude issues with children so as they taxied she fed her baby. This is not to mention while taxieng remember no one but the attendants should be moving around. So with the height of the seats, her husband shielding her, and her breast not being hanging out there, is there any more way of being discreet? Well the attendant thought she needed to cover up so when she refused they turned the flight back around and kicked her off. By the way breastfeeding in public in Vermont and many other states is a right allowed by law. No mention of discreetness in the code so it did not matter she could have whipped it out and popped it in the kids mouth and no one had a legal right to say anything.
Well she has sued, the airline has apologized, but mommies, dads, and even those having been breastfed as children both male and female staged "feed ins" to promote awareness and call attention to the issue. Some airports threatened moms with arrest for indecent exposure, protest without permits, etc. despite the fact that they were peaceful and just hanging around talking and doing what was natural, breastfeeding.
Another issue to write your congress folks about. There is a national movement to make breastfeeding legal in all public places by passing a law. Write away. Or there is a petition you can sign online at http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/momsrising/signUp.jsp?key=1772&t=petition.dwt
Pass the word Suicide Girl friends and let them know.
