Ok, so this blog is WAY overdue, I've had a lot going on lately, but that's why I haven't had time to post said blog. So I forced myself to finally take a break from my new drum and the Giants games (even though they're playing the braves right now and winning 4-0...knock on wood).
So, I should clarify. The "drum" I'm talking about is a new Tenor Lead Steel Drum which I've been wanting since I was 18 years old and in my high school's steel drum band I finally scraped up enough money to buy it and went for it (They're very expensive and all made by hand). It's awesome! I'm relearning some of the songs I used to play in high school and arranging some of my favorite ska, reggae and other random songs. I'm trying to get a ska band started down here but don't know anyone who loves the genre as much as I do (or at all) around RIpon, but I'm not giving up. I was supposed to get a hold of one of the guys in Brass Hysteria cuz I guess they've been looking for a steel drum player for a WHILE now and have been needing a new trombonist for some time now (which I could do both) but I moved away from Chico before I bought my drum and Ripon people are not as passionate about ska as Chico people....yet another reason Chico is better than Ripon. But I'm still learning as many songs as I can and will still find friends to jam with, just gotta make sure they brush up on their Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto beforehand. I was going to post pics, but I no longer have a battery for my camera, I'll need to order another one before Halloween.
And I would like to add GO GIANTS!!!!! Let's take this post season! I've been waiting for a season like this for years. I'm so excited for them, baseball's really the only sport that I enjoy watching (maybe Hockey too). Most people say that baseball is slow and boring, but I say that just means your not paying close enough attention. BTW, if anyone saw the girl dancing in the Orange Man suit (like the Green Man suit from Always Sunny in Philadelphia but bright orange) at the Giants/Brewers game in SF on TV or at the park, that would be my amazingly awesome sister! Best Giants fan outfit EVER!
But anyway, if I ever get good pics of me with the steel drum I WILL post the pics on another blog...maybe a video blog might be in order too.
P.S. This isn't MY drum, just a generic pic of a steel drum since some people are confused about what a steel drum is, especially since most people think it's physically impossible for a white guy to play it.
