You know I have to do an animal blog! So let's discuss the first raccoon I ever rehabbed and let's all keep in mind that I am a licensed animal Rehabber with my pre rabies exposure shots and a degree in animal behavior.
I got a call ...baby raccoon, eyes closed, little bit of fur, orphaned... he was so tiny the vet said he might not make it. He was badly dehydrated. I fell in love. I named him Yoshi. For the next month I was up every three hours feeding and giving LRS fluids to keep him alive and healthy. Yoshi had a stuffed bear and as he started walking and running around he would carry his bear with him everywhere he went. I helped teach him how to search through leaves to find food..dig to find food, and taught him how to catch little fish out of a tub of water. Releasing him into the wild was one the the best feelings I have ever felt. I was able to give him back his life and not just that but he was able to survive in the wild as a free raccoon! šš¾
