Hello SG! I'm writing you, sitting in the cool, dark air-conditioned computer room, during the brightest, sunniest, hottest, humidest day of the year so far. I should be outside...except...the grass cutters are cutting all the little condo yards and I can't breathe. *sigh*
WORK...
MY part of my job is going great. However, the Human Resource people are tying to make me miserable. They've taken my driver's license and birth certificate now to verify my employment THREE times. Each time, they've made a copy of one or both wrong (can't see the face on the DL, can't see the seal on the birth cert., etc, etc). So, they tell me Tuesday they need my birth certificate again. That's great, because I misplaced it in the move, after they told me they finally got what they needed. So, I I have to re-order my birth certificate from the state of Maryland. 7-10 days regular mail. I get informed today that if my birth certificate isn't in HR Headquarters by Monday, I'm removed from the schedule until it is. So, it looks as though I'm going to be getting a 7-10 day (unpaid) vacation, relatively against my will. Luckily, I have a little money saved, just in case I can't go to work.
What kind of stupid bullshit is that? It's THEIR error (s) that repeatedly make my paperwork be sent back. They tell me "Oh, it's no big deal, just whenever you can find it"...I tell them I'm ordering a new one, it'll be a week to 10 days, they say, "Ok, that's fine"...and now I'm getting temporarily FIRED? Wonderful. I'm just upset that my boss is going to be in a bind, because I'm pretty much the only employee he's got.
BRANDI...
was on the phone having one of her "I'm so blinded by how fakely wonderful you are" marathon conversations with Chris, speeding down a busy road, at lunch time, in the rain, when she had an accident. Totalled her truck. Broke her face a couple places- nose, cheek, etc. There was no real reason WHY the accident happened other than she wasn't paying attention when the car in front of her stopped. They didn't slam on their brakes, nothing, just stopped. She not only hit them, but caused them to hit the car in front of them, so she's now in a world of financial mess, no car, broken face. And Chris, sorry ass that he is, didn't even NOTICE that she had been in an accident- he didn't hear the crash, hear her cry out in pain, nothing. He actually got upset because she hung up on him! 4 hours later, when he finally picked up the phone when she called him, when she was getting out of the hospital, he decided to drive down here to her. First thing he said (so she tells me)...not "OMG! BABY! Are you ok?!" but "So, now that you don't have a truck, that means you can move away with me even sooner, right?" Ass.
MEN ARE FROM MARS....WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS...
is my current read. I've always heard good things about it, so I thought what the hell, I need a new book, I'll get it. I'm not really in need of improving my relationship, but the book DOES give some good pointers on how to cope with the inherent differences between men and women. The basic premise is the idea that the fundamental needs of men and women are what make them different, yet compatible. Men need to be needed, while women need to be appreciated. If we don't realize that, we say or do things that negate those needs and push our significant others away. For instance: Men don't talk about their problems much- instead, they are solution finders. They think about what's going on and try to come up with a way to fix it. Women, on the other hand, need to talk about what's
bothering them. It may not fix anything, but it relieves their stress. So, a woman comes home complaining about her day, and her man automatically tries to think of ways to "fix" her "problem" (find a new job, etc). The woman gets upset because she thinks the man isn't listening to what she has to say...she really just wants him to listen so she can get it out of her system. This book gives little tips and pointers on how to improve situations like that. I'd recommend this book to read even if you have a happy relationship, because there are some things in it that make you go, "Oh, I never thought of that before."
NEW TOYS!
Tonight, I'm getting the Marvin the Paranoid Android toy from Hitch-Hiker's Guide. And, a few days ago, my boys brother-in-law gave us a Buddy Christ. We also got the new Jade Empire game, which looks to be SUPER cool (he's played it a little, I haven't gotten to yet). And, on Sunday, he's cooking dinner for me ON OUR NEW GRILL! Yayaya!
A NEW JOB...
This time, for the boy. Currently, he's a cop in Lebanon. One week, he works 5 12 hour shifts, plus attends 8 hours of court, and has two days off. He works 5pm-5am. The following week, he works 2 12 hour shifts and has 5 days off. The administration at the police dept. is kind of bad (not backing up officers, etc) and they've been causing a lot of patrolmen here to move to different cities. My boy's been talking about transferring to Metro-Nashville for a while now, but last night he heard of something that may be better. He is really used to what he does here, and going to Metro made him a little nervous- it's different people, faster pace, way more dangerous, etc...AND we'd have to move out of Lebanon.
Last night, he met an officer from Berry Hill, a suburb department within Metro. They're hiring, and they have excellent reviews. Higher pay than here, better benefits, two bonuses a year plus two inservice bonuses, good vacation and sick time, 8 hour shifts instead of 12's...and, it's bigger than Lebanon, but not as big as Metro. So, it really sounds like what he was looking for. We wouldn't have to move, either! He'd get midnight shifts like he wants...so that means he'd be working like, 10pm-6am...so we'd get to spend a little more time than what we get now, as he'd be leaving for work later. Please, cross your fingers for this to pan out for him. And, cross your fingers for the other townhouse, too!!
And I'm spent, kiddies.

The book and virtual all books like it over complicates the issue. Understand the pervious paragraph and you will understand the differences. Although in order for such knowledge to help each sex must be able to think like the other sex and that is rare to a find a man who can think like a women or a women to think like a man. Maybe that knowledge and an ability to think like a women is what keeps me out of relationships.
I'm definitely crossing my fingers for your man to get the new job. Sounds awesome!! More together time, and a better job for him, and you don't have to move; best of all the worlds.
Men are from mars... never read it. I don't know how much good it would do my relationship, mine is already as good as it could possibly be And that is such a nice thought to run through my head. But, I bet it's interesting all the same.
Brandi... that guy... boy, I don't know how she doesn't see what he is. Hopefully she'll realize before she moves to be with him where he can control her thoughts. Must have been a bad accident, I'm glad she's ok (other than the breaks she's got). Sounds like she's going to be in for a rough ride since it was her fault... I'll cross my toes for her (since I'm already crossing my fingers for your guy's new job ).
Wow, temporarily fired for your company's mistake... I'd be pissed. Couldn't you just make your own copies, since obviously they can't do it themselves? Maybe you'd have better luck at it.
It's been so nice outside lately Other than the newly cut grass making sneezing a continual thing, it's been gorgeous. I love the early summer, it's so awesome It just makes me in a better mood, just soaking up the sunshine.
So anyways Hi Talk to you later!!
