so last night I went to this great party on yerba buena island. my friend crista lives in former naval officer housing that on a hill directly over the bay bridge tunnel. it was a bunch of ren faire freaks and a bunch of dogs. it was fun.

we drank and ate, and then when it turned dark we walked a short distance to the top of the hill, where we could see nearly every single fireworks display in the bay area.

afterwords, I was drinking at a makeshift tiki bar on the bottom of crista's outside stairway, and suddenly all of the lads surrounding the bar started busting singing sea shantys! fan-fucking-tastic. and I knew the songs! why? because ms. obsidity introduced me to them last summer on the playa when she sang them while playing a little toy accordian and wearing goggles (like in her picture).

so they were singing a song I didn't know, but I asked them about the other ones that I did know through obsidity, and they knew those! when I brought up the whiskey-o, johnny-o song, they got really excited. one of them whipped out a bunch of papers from his backpack, and there were the lyrics! we must have sung that song for over half an hour, with more and more and more people joining in.
