1.Smells.
This spring is very appealing to my nose. Every afternoon the honeysuckle hits the olfactories; every evening I'm tackled by the gardenia and magnolia. Sometimes all three in a confusingly sublime smell war. I know there are other blossoms, tress, shrubs at work in this guerilla conquest of my nose, but I say, "viva la smellvelution!"
Also, I've been sleeping in Ardilla's new room, which was recently painted and that smells nice too.
2.Sounds
I could talk about wanting to see Bright Eyes, kinda, how Dinosaur Jr. and Spoon are already sold out, my contemplation of going to hear My Morning Jacket and Rilo Kiley again, or my interest in going to the Iron and WIne show, or even my purchased tickets for the Pixies,
but!
the sounds that are most perplexing me are the ongoing construction noises outside my window, the man who banged on my front door for 20 minutes until I woke and realized he wasn't going away and that it was 7:30am and that he wanted me to move Ardilla's truck so they could move the construction noises closer to my house, and the noises of my other roommate using the blender that I could never hear from my room, but which are abundantly clear in Ardilla's. Which makes me wonder about my use of the coffee grinder at sometimes unseemly hours. And this is not complaint, just what has been occupying this sense. Also, Hem's "Rabbit Songs." It's gorgeous. See, no complaining. Ya hear me?
3.Touch
I washed my big velour blanket. I have this gray t-shirt on that is the sort of soft that you want all t-shirts to be, but which usually signifies their near demise. This shirt, however, is not very old, so will probably be this soft for a while. I wish I had 10 of them.
4.Taste
(Of which there is no accounting)
I enjoyed Omrah's Shiraz last night while eating sourdough bread. It was delicious. Later I had some sips of a NC produced muscadine wine, which was interesting, very green, and left an aftertaste best described as "summer." I won't call it good, but I enjoyed it.
5.Sights
I went to the beach this past weekend (Oak Island, NC) and the thing I like best about the ocean is staring at it. I like breathing the salty air , too, but I mostly like watching the waves and the light play. It's oddly relaxing for someone as ADD as me. Also, there was a fullmoon at night which made it extra beautiful.
Alright, I think that's a better update than some of the ones I've been leaving around this joint.
