Still not any Vegas pictures to update with...well, my computer is really grouchy when it comes to that whole right-click-save-as thing.
For dinner last night I had "moon-gazing noodles." It was a buckwheat noodle in mushroomy broth with turnips, shiitakes, green onion, and carrot with a poaches egg on top and clouds of marinated deepfried tofu. It was really earthy tasting, but not in a vegetable way, in a roots-in-the loam way. I orderd it because it sounded like contemplative food perfect for the rainy day that it was. The flavors were so dark that it was one of the most emotional eating experiences I have ever had. Those flavors put me into a very meditaive state. It was not only the moon that was being contemplated. Anyway, have foods ever done this to you?
The down side is that I was in a really bright and happy mood despite the cool dreariness of the day. I should have got the sunny lemongrass grouper dish, perhaps...
