It has been a while since I have updated here with anything resembling a quality post. My attention has been split on the internet front between SG, Myspaz, and LiveJournal. These sites are the biggest distraction on the net for me these days, but the old standards lurk in the shadows. Such sites as Daily Kos, ACLU of Northern California, QC , and PA have provided a good balance of news and humor. Also, I have been sticking to my regime of The Daily Show and Democracy Now!. Added to the mix recently is The Colbert Report for more political humor, and two new anime series, for the required mindfuck.
That's it you ask? Just keeping up three blogs, and a smattering of light weight entertainment, and that is your excuse for not giving us quality updates? Well, actually, no. There is more to it than that. Ever since I returned from The H.C. I have been scrambling to get my life in order while I still have time to do so. Orientation starts on the 7th, and then classes start the week after that. So, in the next week I have 2-3 doctor's appointments to make/go to, a couple of meetings regarding financial aid (I think my uni would appreciate it if I actually paid my tuition), and a meeting this afternoon regarding the class I am teaching at UCB this fall. This latter project is going to require me to somehow write a syllabus and create 9 homework projects as well, not to mention read the files on my 7 incoming students. Oh yeah, and then there is the required pre-orientation reading assigned for law school, but that is only about 200pgs. And Fridays are shot because I am still working at the ACLU.
The bizarre thing is I am looking forward to absolutely everything (well, except for the doctor's visits perhaps). The more I realize that I have a ton to do, the happier I am. I had forgotten the joy of being overwhelmed. Also, and perhaps one of the most exciting things, is that I get to see my sister on Sunday in Sacto!!!!! I just found this out yesterday, so I am very, very psyched. And then Sunday night I move into the city for my week of orientation. During which time I will be sleeping with my favorite unrequited love all week so that I can make the mandatory 8:30am talks. That should be interesting.
Really not sure what else I can squeeze into this entry, except for the fact that I may be in the process of developing a new crush...but it is a bit of an odd situation, so I am going to try to ignore it as much as possible for the time being.
