there were actually some decent responses to that. although i asked for icebreakers, not lame ass pick up lines. and to all the girl who say that the "nice shoes, wanna fuck?" thing works, i call total fucking bullshit. i've heard a bunch of girls say this, but my ass it works. maybe on you with me AFTER you say it works just to pretend to be cute, but i've used it in pseudo-jest with female friends that i wanted to fuck before, and it sure as hell doesn't work. (pseudo-jest as in, you actually mean what you're saying but you play it off as a joke to soften the blow and awkwardness of rejection)

besides, the girl i'm trying to talk to is a starbucks barista, and with people who work retail, usually they're just nice because they have to be/want your money, and you're not ACTUALLY special to them, even if you think they're smiling more or chatting you up more than any other guy/customer, etc. i know this because i used to do it in retail, we were sort of told to, i've been warned about it, and recently i tried to talk up a girl working at pac sun and she was the definition of "not interested." i'm shy enough already so it doesn't take much to shoot me down, so i don't know why i'm even bothering giving this girl more than a second thought, but i guess i'm just a masochist.
