I ALWAYS got duddly moore confused with one of the beatles...I still refer to him as the actor that looks like a beatle!
radiofrank:
Thank you, good sir. Happy holidays to you as well. biggrin

...seeing as you're familiar with the original Battlestar Galactica, I thought that you might want to have a look at these:

Well, going into the home stretch. Last week of classes before finals.

Last week of classes before, essentially, graduation!

Next semester I start the applied math MS program. I've also been penciled in for teaching an intermediate algebra class and as the TA for a PDE class. (I'm extra excited about that last one since PDE theory is what I what I want to...

That's a little odd...but also quite amusing. We need a picture like that. biggrin

Then again, I read "Boltzmann" as "Holtzmann" and thought that you were working with foldspace and personal shields. We really need to go outside and get a life, eh?

Good luck with your finals!
radiofrank:
Thanks! I thought that you might like them. biggrin

...I must admit, however, that I didn't really understand what you're trying to do. It's been way too long since I've dealt with anything close to that, haha.

Well, as mentioned previously, our video, Einstein's Unfinished Symphony, didn't win but did place. Two separate people asked me about it today, which I thought was odd until:

So, yeah. I'm the author of the dialog in a video which Slashdot indirectly references with "best entries." Neat.

Thanks. It's good to be back. biggrin
radiofrank:
Aww, jeez...you're far too kind.

You are one of the first people that talked to me around here, and that's not something I could ever forget - or thank you enough for. I'm glad that we made this connection and are still talking after all of this time. smile

Shaping up to be one busy semester (17 units apparently isn't supposed to be a cake walk--go figure). Still, I found out today that there is a chance that next semester--assuming all of my graduation paper work goes through on time--I may be starting my applied math Masters program by teaching an intro physics class.

I am happy.

Hi, just cruising the blogs of the Occult group members... It amazes me how many mystics hate math. I don't do the high-level stuff, but I consider the basics invaluable as mental training.

Thanks!

To all those people who feel that, for whatever reason, the world would be a better place without certain segments of the population in it:

"Without hesitation, they doomed millions to extinction and tens of millions to inhuman wretchedness in the mystical delusion of their divine mission. (They called if "history" instead of "divine.") Could one grant them this prerogative, even in principle, without justifying...

Well said, good sir. Well said!

The details of the photo project will only come out once I've got everything in order. I have this tendency to jinx myself by saying too much without having anything to back it up. Ha.

Well, the new semester has begun. Home stretch. Graduation in December. Fuck yeah!

Granted, I've got a freshman American Lit class (grad req) and a Postmodern Art Survey class (multicultural grad req) but they're nicely off-set by Computational Bioinformatics, Partial Differential Equations and History of Math.

Yes, I'm crazy but by mid-December I'll be certified crazy!

The only draw-back with my schedule is that I...

You make some interesting points, and that other series you've mentioned sounds pretty good. I am now officially confused as to what I should read first. biggrin
radiofrank:
Yeah, that should be enough time to arrange something. wink

Thanks for the further commentary on both series. Now I just have to get out to a bookstore...

I can't get enough of this video. Period.

radiofrank:
'Tis a nifty video, to be sure. I don't think I've heard that song before.

The answer shall be revealed soon, and I think that you are (slightly) familiar with it. Maybe.

Welp! Just wrapped up the first session of an approximately three-session Call of Cthulhu (d20) game. We had two experienced player cancellations leaving two old-schoolers and four n00bs--never a good thing in CoC. I'm not sure that everyone grasped the idea that the start of any CoC adventure is the most boring since that's when the characters split up and do the research. I tried...

Well, apparently we lost the video contest. Meh. Still, an actual working String Theorist that I met in the course of the contest pointed out that, despite the voting results, our video, while not the most accurate of the submissions, was the most professional looking. Considering the two-week production window we had, I'll take that as a major compliment!

Not much else going on. Now...
