Okay, so, worked the Summer Session at City College and that was nice(ish).
I finally received formal notification (from the Provost's office no less) that I will definitely be teaching physics next semester--which is good sent I've spent an inordinate amount of time this summer prepping for that class.
Got a new laptop on order--time to upgrade since having an old laptop and an old desktop with a combined disk space of 32 gigs isn't even laughable at this point.
My quantum mechanics talk from last semester (and my last entry) went off very well and I subsequently finished the semester off with a 4.0.
Finally begun the first draft of the novel I've been researching for over a year. I'm twenty pages in (having only started a week ago) and up to chapter three.
Despite being the aforementioned 4.0 into my Masters Degree, I've been eying the Slavic Studies bachelors over at UCSB. They offer extensive courses in Russian as well as Russian literature. What would I do with Russian, you ask? Why, translate Russian science-fiction since there's so little of it on the Englich-speaking market! Ah, to dream....
Also, as I was typing this, an earthquake hit--note to self: install seat belt into computer chair. Quick USGS search returns a magnitude 5.8 centered in Los Angeles. Great. Better sign off to see what the news says....

Congrats on starting the novel, on getting a new laptop, and on finding out that you'll be teaching physics! Speaking of which, will you be teaching a particular branch of the subject, or will you just be doing a more generalized course?
I was kinda surprised that we started talking about Gala (even though it was only for a few minutes), but some very interesting ideas were thrown about. We'll see what comes of them.
...and yes, you should make a point of coming up for it one of these years. It's the Mother Of All Parties, haha.
I've also done a tiny bit of reading about this earthquake of yours. Glad to see that all is (mostly) well down there. I'd probably have started crapping my pants.
The Dark Knight is well worth the wait, to be sure. I really enjoyed it.
