So, the teaching gig is good. We just wrapped up systems of equations and I think I was able to rescue most of the students who had fallen over-board during that chapter. Time will tell.
I've begun doing preliminary research into my eventual thesis topic. As such, I just finished reading a paper on solutions to a high-order non-linear Schrodinger equation--a particular version of the infamous equation that arises when light travels through fiber-optic cables on the order of femtoseconds--and have started another, rather lengthy one, dealing with quantum motion in the complex plane. The second paper--which I may present at the end of the semester in our grad seminar--will force me to learn Brownian motion and the Hamiltonians as well as more about--the little I know of--quantum mechanics. I'm happy about that.

I can't say that I remember the name of that book off the top of my head, but I'm fairly certain that it's in a box in my basement. I will try to fish it out of there and pass the info along in the next day or two.

...and to this date, I have NEVER heard of a better application for mathematics than that.
