My grandmother passed away this morning. There are so many reasons I love her, but I keep coming back to memories of her making a pot of tea & sitting with me and my mom at the kitchen table. We had homemade cookies, and used the good china, even when I was only 4 or 5 years old.
My mother's dad left Grandma when my mom was 9 months old (she's the baby), and for a couple years, Grandma supported their family by teaching piano, and taking in sewing. It's because of her that I know how to sew, love cooking, and have a fondness for Native American jewelry. She liked that I was strong and capable, and always wanted to do things for myself. I don't know if she realized I'm independent because she was like that, and my mother, too.
I miss her so much. ♥
