So it turns out that my friend who got me my new job was a sucky sommelier. I mean really bad. Tasting notes? He took none. Training materials for the staff? Nope, nada. Rhyme or reason for the "organization" of the wine room? Zip. Zilch. Properly (or even consistently) formatted wine list? Surely you jest. I am so ticked off right now. The owners of the restaurant have no idea what the workload is, so they're underwhelmed by me. Meanwhile, the friend keeps dropping by the restaurant and acting like he's some kind of celebrity. He also keeps offering to "help" me figure stuff out. What's to figure out? He was a slackass & nobody was the wiser until a professional showed up.
Also, there's a guy making bacon ice cream on the TV right now. I can decide whether to be fascinated or repulsed.

Just be happy you don't have to taste Chinese wine... it's.. an experience.
