Hello beautiful people! I've been feeling mighty crazy of late, and here's a little bit of why:
Been digging lots of holes lately... Many of them through snow. We average 300 days of sun a year here in Colorado, but that doesn't mean many of them aren't also cold and snowy. I don't mind the cold, and the frozen ground can be dealt with, but I have to commute through rush hour traffic and (as some of you may recall) I don't deal well with traffic.
I also get far muddier digging this time of year than I normally would, but that's what field gear is for.
... really I'm stalling at this point. Last week had a great deal of news to deliver. First, and quite disappointingly, I received word that institutional politics will ensure that I DON'T get offered a position within the graduate program at SDSU, and thus won't be moving to SoCal. 😣 I was pretty pissed off, since it was clear that my academic record would have otherwise qualified.
However, the next day I got ( unofficial, though fairly definitive) word that I WILL be offered a position at WSU! So, I'm still waiting to hear from Texas A&M (which would be a far worse place to live, but has a more prestigious name and a somewhat better program) and if I get an offer there as well I'll have to make a decision, but either way I'll be going to grad school!! I was starting to lose faith, honestly, so it's soooo very gratifying!
Huzzah!
