Jesus fuck.
There's one screw-up for a projectionist that's the stuff of nightmares. Scratch a print? Unless it's bad enough to warrant a replacement, it's really just an annoyance. Thread the wrong movie? 10 minute fix, tops.
No, folks, I'm talking about dropping a print.
You see, the movie sits on the platters in a neat spiral. Looks like big, black, circle. Drop one, and... ever had to untangle a garden hose, or Christmas lights? Picture that. Now picture that the thing you have to untangle is razor thin and two miles long. There are no words to describe this mess. Calling it "coiled" and "tangled" is like calling the sun "pretty big" or "kinda warm." While standing on its surface. What the Bleep Do We Know hit the floor at 7:00 PM. I had it put back together at 11:50. I should mention here that I started work at 10 AM. So my 14 hour day ended with over four hours of crawling around the booth floor trying to sort out the 7200 feet of film in a giant mess, anywhere from one to 2000 feet at a time.
So, that was my night. Felt like venting a little. But once again, Avenue Q has brightened my mood.
Cheers.

I'm up by 630 to get ready for school, 530 if it's a clinical day. Ick.
