Can you believe I left an emo rant up as my blog for over three weeks? I can't. Who DOES that? Begone, I say.
So. 31 now. I could still take or leave this "being over thirty" thing, but since leave isn't actually an option... The party was held 6 days after my actual birthday, a theme bash titled "Hank Scorpio's Espionage Challenge." Essentially, this was a spy/villain-themed scavenger hunt followed by laser tag and then much drinking at Mr. B's party pad.
My logic was this: for my 30th last year, I was abducted by 4 friends in schoolgirl outfits and sent on a cross-city escapade. This year I would arrange escapades for everyone else, with the invaluable aid of a friend who plans parties professionally.
The scavenger hunt portion went well. Sabotage between the Spy team and Villain team was actively encouraged, and they came up with ingenious and fun ways to screw each other over. Laser tag went okay, but in the future I think we'll stick to the other place, which allows exclusive bookings. Too many kids, is what I'm implying.
How to some up the drinking... the following morning, the host held up a mostly-empty bottle of Jack Daniels. I was convinced he was about to demand I finish it off, a task I felt in no way prepared to undertake. Instead, he says "This was FULL. We bought this LAST NIGHT. For you. Why aren't you dead?" And I admit, around 4:30 AM there had been a brief consultation with the toilet as my body resisted the waves of poison I had ingested, but the after-effects were minimal. So go me.
Now I'm set to start stage managing a play for the first time in... over two years, I think. Should be fun. You'll hear more of this play as November approaches.
"I don't know if it's the fumes from the melting plastic or the loss of blood, but I feel great!"

masquerade:
"How to some up the drinking..." This, coming from someone who calls himself a Math geek and an English geek! How dare you?!

whitewidow:
That sounds like a cool way to celebrate the big Birthday
I am NOT having one this year because I refuse to turn 30
It will be my first anniversary of my 29th birthday
