There are times, gentle readers, when you simply need a win. My life has improved in many ways the last half-year, don't get me wrong, but there are times when stresses and disappointments build up to the point where what you truly need is some small victory to take the edge off it.

This is not something my weekend provided.

I have this pithy story about how certain of my friends (Not you, Michele and Masquerade. I speak now of the Boys.) were of no aid with this, but there's no good way to start it without sounding pouting or like I'm badmouthing my friends, neither of which I want to do. I have good friends and don't care for sounding pouty. And let's be clear: they couldn't have been expected to be of assistance, because I never indicated I might require it. I'm not big on discussing my issues, save for here for some reason.

The issue is that without knowing I might need help they tried to provide it anyway, and that just made things worse. You see, AC doesn't seem to get that the world works differently for him than it does for me. He talks about random hook-ups with female friends like they're a normal thing. Which, from my experience, they are most certainly not. And yet he's decided it's exactly what I require. He also thought I should date a cheerleader. A specific one, I mean. One we know. I honestly can't tell if he was being insane or cruel. It's not his fault he doesn't get why I'm unconvinced on either matter... okay, it's his fault on the cheerleader thing, but let's focus on the other one. Simple fact is he's the Bad Boy. I'm the Shoulder to Cry On. One of us has casual sex with female acquaintances. One of us consoles them then goes home to sleep alone. That's just the way it is, regardless of personal preference.

So you can imagine why it's annoying having the conversation every time we see each other.

But that's enough grumbling from me for tonight. Give it a day or two, I'll replace this entry with another Colbert Report knock-off or something.

"None of those cheerleaders would want to date me after watching tonight's show."

masquerade:
I think the boys think they're "encouraging" you. That enough repetitions of the same idea will make you mre comfortable with it, or something. When asked for my opinion, I agree that the idea is good in theory. However, pestering you about it doesn't strike me as a particularly good way to bring it about. As a consolation: remember, they're boys - they have very short attention spans.
